HISTORY AND CONSTRUCTION

Malolo is a custom-built 55-foot performance cruising sailboat, engineered with an emphasis on structural strength, weight control, and offshore durability. Her construction reflects careful engineering and quality craftsmanship, resulting in a yacht that is both robust and purpose-built for demanding sailing.
Her hull and deck are built using advanced composite construction techniques to reduce weight while maintaining rigidity and longevity. This approach enhances structural efficiency and contributes to the boat’s responsive sailing characteristics.
Her underbody features a modern fin keel and balanced spade rudder, providing accurate helm response, directional stability offshore, and maneuverability in confined spaces.

ENGINE & MECHANICAL

Malolo is powered by a reliable Yanmar SD-40 75 hp diesel with 1740 hrs.  The engine installation is clean and well-organized, with good access for routine service and maintenance.
Her mechanical systems reflect the same thoughtful, performance-minded approach seen throughout the vessel.

ELECTRICAL

Malolo’s electrical system is well suited for cruising, offering ample battery capacity, multiple charging sources, inverter power, and energy-efficient LED lighting. Hot water is available from both engine and electric systems, supporting comfortable time aboard whether underway or at anchor.

MISCELLANEOUS

• Malolo’s hull and underwater profile reflect ongoing care and structural attention, with key components addressed and maintained over time.
• Bottom paint was last applied in June 2023. A recent diver inspection reported the bottom in good overall condition with only minor areas of paint wear noted.
• The keel was replaced in January 2013, at which time new keel bolts were installed.
• A previous area of deck core compression/delamination at the starboard winch island was professionally repaired and reinforced with a ½-inch G-10 backing plate in 2017.
