Starcraft 1915 OB Limited

With a 19-footer, even a deck boat, you just don?t think fitting 10 people aboard would be possible. Yet there it is in the capacity plate, the Starcraft Limited 1915 OB can seat two basketball teams at once. Stepping on board, I could see how.

Going with a single side-console layout, Starcraft was able to extend the portside bench from the bow platform all the way into the main cockpit opposite the captain?s chair. In addition, using an outboard frees up cockpit space, where the transom bench can seat three with plenty of legroom.

Space is one thing the 1915 has in spades ? the other is performance. Throttling up, I climbed onto plane in less than three seconds, with virtually no bow rise restricting visibility at the helm. Starcraft attributes this to its modified dihedral hull with vented chines, which assist with lift. Dihedral is a buzzword in kayak-hull design, known to improve stability and balance for paddlers. On a planing hull, it means a deeper V down the centerline with two outer sponsons with reversed chines, all designed to eliminate side-to-side rocking and tendency to tip.
Every inch of cushioning aboard the Limited 1915 OB is covered with stain- and puncture-resistant 35-ounce vinyl. Stowage underneath holds the flip-up changing room with portable toilet or the removable 36-quart cooler under the port bench. A pedestal-mounted table with four molded-in cup holders comes standard for the bow cockpit, helping to entertain the troops, yep, even all 10 of them.
