The coastal pilot features a semi displacement hull designed for modest top speeds in the 18-20 knot range and an efficient and sea kindly ride at lower cruising speeds. During typical daytime cruising, without a rotating crew, the entire area is used and the person on watch can participate in food preparation, entertainment and conversation within this large and luxurious living area. This arrangement allows for quick, easy, side door deck access from the helm station, for short-handed mooring and offers all-round visibility rivaling most pilothouse configurations.

Nordhavn has taken what it does best, building long-range luxury expedition yachts, and incorporated all the fishing features and rigging found on tournament sportfishers to create a yacht that can truly go after any fish in the world. An enormous fishing cockpit, dual 60-gallon baitwells, a 35-cubic-foot deep freeze, plentiful gear and tackle storage and all the rod holders and rigging a deep-sea angler could ever want top a long list of fishing features.The N75 EYF is safer in rough weather when sea conditions force a slower running speed, which is always a major downside to the typical small rudders found on sportfishers (the N75 EYF’s standard stabilizers also promise a comfortable ride in rough seas). Additionally, the EYF’s 22 -foot four-inch beam permits a new Nordhavn standard feature: twin engines. A single screw is not an option. The N75 EYF sports Detroit Series 60 diesels and a cruising-speed fuel burn of 12 to 15 gallons per hour – a trickle compared to a typical sportfisher built for nothing but speed with noisy behemoth diesels guzzling 100 to 200 gallons or more per hour. Another heavy advantage over typical sportfishers is there is no weight penalty for all the equipment and furnishings that make life grand. The Nordhavn 47 is known as being a very large 47-foot boat and now P.A.E.’s designers have actually made it bigger by extending it by five feet. The Nordhavn 52, a slight evolution of its smaller sister, is quickly gaining popularity amongst buyers who love the interior space and offshore capability of the 47 but are looking for an updated look to their boat. The N52 differs itself from the 47 with three central design modifications – each of which combines to make a sleeker and slightly more efficient boat. The most significant of these changes is a cockpit extension, which opens up the rear of the boat as well as elongates the yacht’s lines. But the benefits of added waterline length aren’t limited simply to aesthetics. The design team was able to work an extra (approximate) 200 gallons of fuel into the capacity of the boat’s tanks and in turn, bump up the range. To coincide with the elongated cockpit, the upper level boat deck was lengthened by two feet – a move that serves a dual purpose: not only does this offset the cockpit extension, it enables a bigger tender to be carried on top. Completing the enhanced look is the re-configuration of the flybridge. A purely cosmetic change (no features have been added or altered), the newly-styled flybridge is now more integral with the boat deck and pilothouse roof.

The first impressions from the outside are of great mass and powerful lines, but it’s the interior volume that has to be experienced to be appreciated. Taking advantage of the enormous capacity of this hull, the  Nordhavn 86 offers accommodations that are nothing short of remarkable. The saloon and galley measures 36 feet in length, the master cabin and head are full width consuming the whole forward/upper section of the vessel and the combination of wheelhouse, captain’s cabin and sky lounge measure almost 30 feet in length.
