Specifications:   Year:                       1980                       LOA:                       26' Beam:                     8' 6"                                              Draft:                      3' Construction:                                                                     GRP      Hull/Keel:                Twin HIN:                        69672   Description: This yacht has had a complete stem to stern refit over the last 18 months. The Westerly Centaur was designed in 1968 by Jack Laurent Giles as a more modern and roomier replacement for the existing Westerly 25. She was probably the first mass-production yacht to have had the design tank-tested before a prototype was built, and this, plus Laurent Giles's earlier experience with bilge keel designs, was probably the reason for the Centaur's good performance under sail. Looking at a roomy boat with good headroom and a powerful diesel makes many people regard Centaurs as motor-sailers. They are not - they actually sail very well, although as bilge-keelers they are always going to be slower to windward than similar sized fin-keelers. The sailing performance is helped by carefully designed bilge keels which are handed port and starboard with a two degree toe-in, so that once the boat heels under sail the more vertical leeward keel is developing lift to windward. Above deck, the Centaur remains popular because her deep cockpit and wide side decks serve to create a sense of safety when aboard. Another reason for the continuing popularity of Centaurs is the fact that they are a stiff, powerful boat. Whether sailing or motoring, the Centaur's handling is always predictable. As with all other Westerly Marine yachts the Centaur was massively built. This was partly a result of previous building experience within the company and also a reflection of the state of GRP technology at that time. All Centaurs were built to Lloyds specifications which meant that the building processes were rigorously monitored and all materials had to be approved by Lloyds in order that a certificate could be issued. Although long out of production they still represent excellent value for money, and offer a very tough, seaworthy and spacious (for 26') yacht at low cost.   Engine(s) & Electrical: Yanmar 35hp diesel (reconditioned unit fitted in 2022). Engine hours in boat: 0. Drive type: shaft (new gearbox in 2022). Maximum speed under power: 6kts. Twin batteries charged from the engine. Shore power. Tjalk Barge 74 (available)

    1898
    €202.967

Specifications:   Year:                       1898                       LOA:                       22.6 m Beam:                     4.57 m                                              Draft:                      1.36 m Construction:           Steel                                                   Hull/Keel:                Flat HIN:                        N/A   Description: 'Grietje' is a wonderfully looked after original sailing Dutch Tjalk that has been converted into a two/three bedroom liveaboard. Built in 1898 by Drews Hoogezand as a working vessel, she is an originally riveted iron hull that has been fully over-plated with 6mm steel. The vessel has been dry docked in 2021, with a full 35,000 PSI blast/strip back to a WJ2 standard. She then went through a full ultrasonic underwater survey, steel welding repairs completed, full suite of 14 new anodes and finally coated with a 10 year 2pac epoxy International paint system meaning she does not need to be re-slipped until 2031. The bilges have also been cleaned and resealed from the interior. She is sold with a complete 2021 boat survey (as well as survey/service history dating back to 2004) and also the option to take on the mooring at the Embankment Marina, Gravesend. With a keenness to keep the original lines of such a beautiful vessel, the only detraction from the original specification of the build is the fully collapsible wheelhouse at the stern. Outside of this, the original rigging, sails, deck equipment, mast, lee boards are all accounted for and in working order. The deck coaming has also been raised slightly to allow generous head room in the living area, but not so much it detracts from the lines. She also comes fitted with a DAF 6 cylinder 195 HP engine that was serviced at the beginning of 2021 and was used to transport her from Gravesend to Hoo to be slipped and back again without missing a beat. The external topsides and coach roof have also benefited from full repaint recently so she is looking extremely pretty! Internally, the barge has received a full renovation using proper insulation covered over with painted marine moisture resistant ply. Coming down from the wheelhouse you come into an area affectionately known as the skippers cabin that could be used as an utility space or a home office or children’s play room. A new bathroom with full height stand up shower is on your right as you move through the boat and a toilet with a heated seat! Moving further on, a fully renovated kitchen sold with all white goods including a washing machine, full size gas double oven and hobs, plenty of storage space leading into a wide open plan saloon living area. The saloon benefits from beautiful brass portholes and authentic brass skylights leaving the saloon area flooded with natural light. Forward of the mast step there is the option of fitting in another bedroom before finally coming to the master cabin which has a built in queen size bed. The barge is warmed by an oil based boiler that takes it’s feed from the fuel tank, and with 11 radiators in the system leaves the living space toasty warm even in the coldest winter months. It also benefits from a beautifully ornate log burner in the main saloon. 'Grietje' has been in our family since 2006, and took part in the 2012 Queen’s River Thames Pageant as one of the oldest boats on the river Thames. She has been very well looked after and cared for, and is ready to be moved onto straight away. We look forward to passing over this fantastic piece of history.    Engine(s) & Electrical: DAF 195hp, 6 cylinder diesel. Last serviced: May 2021. Drive type: shaft. Maximum speed: 6kts. Fuel capacity: 750 litres. Fuel consumption: 12 litres/hour. 4 batteries charged from the engine. 'Kilifi' was built by Fibocon Yachts in the Netherlands, where she spent a good portion of her life, before being brought over to the UK. Over the last 3 years 'Kilifi' has had an extensive interior and exterior refit, with the internal layout being modernised to make her more comfortable, the electrics have been replaced now featuring LED lights throughout, as well as accent and mood lighting. The chart table and nav station has been completely refurbished with new switch panel, stereo, VHF and heating controls fitted. A gas oven and hob has been installed, pressurised cold water, built in cool box and 12v/240V portable cool box. The galley has been updated and modernised. The heads have been completely refurbished to give the boat a much lighter feel – increasing space available. All seacocks were replaced in 2018, the engine seacock being replaced in spring 2021. The Vetus engine has been serviced by her owner annually at the beginning of ever season, fuel tank drained ever season and refilled with clean fresh diesel to avoid diesel bug. Port side aft shroud plate was replaced in the summer of 2020 and re-sealed as it showed signs of water ingress. The standing and running rigging was replaced in 2012 – the boat has been sailed very conservatively since and shows no signs of wear. 'Kilifi' is equipped with a Garmin GPS unit, wind direction, speed and depth. 2 x anchors, chain and warp stored fwd in the anchor locker. Lifebuoy and light mounted on the pushpit, boarding ladder. 'Kilifi' comes equipped with a very good condition genoa and a fair condition mainsail, she also has a selection of other sails, as well as a very good condition spinnaker. She sails excellently under genoa alone, and the sails she has offer a very flexible sail plan for any conditions, without the need to swap sails constantly. 'Kilifi' benefits from roller headsail furling and slab reefing mainsail as well as lazy-jacks for ease of sail handling. A brand-new mainsail cover is present as well as headsail cover, full boat cover and cockpit canopy. Overall 'Kilifi' is a very well set up coastal cruisier, more than capable of making a comfortable live aboard or weekend medium distance cruiser. Capable of easily achieving speeds of over 6kts under sail. She is now looking for a new home, and with only very small improvements she will be a very capable cruiser for years to come."   Engine(s) & Electrical: Vetus 31hp, 4 cylinder diesel (new in 2008). My mum and stepdad purchased the boat in 2009, and had her moored on the River Wey in Guildford. They frequently used her for leisure holidays where they took her on the Thames Ring up to Oxford, and along the Union Canal. In 2017, my partner and I purchased the boat off my parents and made it our home. For 2 years we lived on the Thames in Staines, Middlesex. We loved every moment on the boat, and cherished putting our own stamp on her. One of the first things my partner did was hand paint the front doors of the boat in her own style. In late 2019, we decided to move to Kent and we took the boat with us on the back of a flatbed arctic lorry where she was then placed on hardstanding in Sandwich. Here we took the time to renovate her inside; fitting new kitchen counters and sink, stripping out the bathroom and turning it into a wet room with a sea toilet, and refiguring the bedroom completely. We also re-blacked the hull ourselves, and sanded, primed and painted the outside, as well as adding the front detailing by hand too. Having lived on the boat for 4 years, it is sad to sell her. However, when we found out we were having our first child, we realised it was time to start a life on land again. We hope that whoever buys the boat enjoys her as much as we have done, and acknowledges the amount of love we have put into her- and are also inspired to put their own stamp on her."    Engine(s) & Electrical: Lister SWM2 diesel.
