    1965

SPECIFICATIONS:   Year:                       1960s                      LOA:                       7.9 m Beam:                     2.6 m                                              Draft:                      0.8 m Construction:          GRP                                                   Hull/Keel:                Twin HIN:                        N/A   Description: In many respects a Snapdragon 26 is similar to a Westerly Centaur. Their internal volumes are roughly identical, the Westerly displacing 6,700 lbs and the Snapdragon 4,500 lbs. Both offer comparable caravan-type accommodation. The main difference between them is the configuration of their keels. The most popular version of the Snapdragon has bilge keels; others have fin keels. Either way, the keels are encapsulated, unlike the Centaur’s, which are of cast iron bolted to the hull. The Snapdragon’s keels are upright, but the Centaur’s are splayed. The latter are more efficient for windward sailing; however, when it comes to settling in mud, splayed keels are subjected to unfair forces tending to push them apart. In some cases this has caused leaks where the keel bolts pass through the hull. Snapdragon 26s were designed by L. Wakefield, and about 200 of them were built between 1966 and 1969 by Thames Marine at Canvey Island, Essex, England. If you are looking for a cheap family cruising yacht, these boats are ideal.   Engine(s) & Electrical: Sabb 9hp diesel. Rayner in the mid sixties. The Westerly 25 is built by the British yard Westerly Marine Ltd.The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all. 5. Elan E6

    Elan E6

    2023
    Op aanvraag

Compared to other yachts in Elan’s repertoire, the Humphreys Yacht Design team distilled even more performance in this project, while keeping the dual-purpose ethos that has been the hallmark of the E Line range for years.  Powered by Elan’s high-tech composite know-how and pushed to the next level by industry-leading specialist Gurit, Elan’s E6 is built with the highest consumer-level technology on the market.  Lighter than competitors in its class, the E6 is the fusion of performance engineering and enriching sailing experiences. This twin rudder and helm yacht utilizes 3D VAIL technology for ultimate lightness and stiffness, and a dedicated hull with a T-shape keel. While the yacht has been designed to be easily sailed by an experienced couple, the E6 truly shines with a good crew. Three pairs of Harken winches, ideally positioned for precision trimming and fast unobstructed movements, are the result of 1:1 scale model in-house testing with an Olympic sailing team.  Optional storage boxes with a grill, sink and a refrigerator are available, as well as two sizes of bathing platforms. Along other lockers, mainsheet ropes are fed to dedicated boxes on the cockpit sides. Carefully designed for the perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality by Pininfarina, the enticing and practical interior invites perfect living at sea. The creative form is brought alive by the natural oak veneered interior and enriched with solid wood finish.  Optional performance okoume furniture keeps the weight down, while not hindering the boat’s luxurious look and feel. The carefully selected colour-scheme complements the yacht’s beautiful lines, flowing from the rear cabins all the way up to the master cabin’s island bed, invoking the feeling of elegance in motion.

    Impression 43

    Op aanvraag

The cockpit is built for enjoyment at anchor as well as sailing pleasure. Ample seating for up to 10 people will make sure everyone has comfort on board. Optional modular cockpit table converts into two sunbeds and enables lounging and sunbathing in the cockpit as well. Beautifully designed steering pedestals can support 9-inch electronics and a myriad of other instruments one might wish for. The twin helm with composite steering wheels offers freedom of movement aboard. There are plenty of cockpit lockers as well, offering enough space for a life-raft, and any other equipment that needs to be on hand. Integrated into the deck are two transom boxes, which offer an extended seating area for the skipper and guests and can hold both a grill and a refrigerator. The yacht comes with a small bathing platform in standard specification, and that can be upgraded to a large platform for more space, safety, and a closed transom feel. No Impression yacht would be complete without the now-iconic transom seats, which are sure to be the first taken as the yacht sets sail. The deck can be enhanced with both synthetic and real teak, depending on the wishes of the owner. Large, flush hatches and portlights are built in the coach roof in many places, letting both light, and that soothing breeze in the interior. The yacht has a self-tacking jib in standard, but can also be upgraded to a genoa among other options. Owners can choose between three or four-cabin versions. The three-cabin version includes an en-suite with an island bed and a spacious head with a separate shower, and the four-cabin version adds a cabin with bunk beds, perfect for families or groups of friends. The interior is built with “rustic” oak veneer and marine-grade plywood, contrasted with modern gray-coloured storage cupboards. A solid oak wood finish is applied wherever the furniture is expected to go through most use, to increase its durability. The saloon can comfortably seat the crew around a centre table, flanked by two solid wood chairs that fold in a pre-determined space when sailing. It can also be easily converted into a double berth. The long side-galley features a three-ring stove with an oven and a front-opening refrigerator on the convenient L-shaped cabinet. The long layout offers plenty of surface space and cupboards for storage. The stove area is protected by easy-to-clean panels and is ventilated by a hatch above.

Specifications:   Year:                       1980                       LOA:                       26' Beam:                     8' 6"                                              Draft:                      3' Construction:                                                                     GRP      Hull/Keel:                Twin HIN:                        69672   Description: This yacht has had a complete stem to stern refit over the last 18 months. The Westerly Centaur was designed in 1968 by Jack Laurent Giles as a more modern and roomier replacement for the existing Westerly 25. She was probably the first mass-production yacht to have had the design tank-tested before a prototype was built, and this, plus Laurent Giles's earlier experience with bilge keel designs, was probably the reason for the Centaur's good performance under sail. Looking at a roomy boat with good headroom and a powerful diesel makes many people regard Centaurs as motor-sailers. They are not - they actually sail very well, although as bilge-keelers they are always going to be slower to windward than similar sized fin-keelers. The sailing performance is helped by carefully designed bilge keels which are handed port and starboard with a two degree toe-in, so that once the boat heels under sail the more vertical leeward keel is developing lift to windward. Above deck, the Centaur remains popular because her deep cockpit and wide side decks serve to create a sense of safety when aboard. Another reason for the continuing popularity of Centaurs is the fact that they are a stiff, powerful boat. Whether sailing or motoring, the Centaur's handling is always predictable. As with all other Westerly Marine yachts the Centaur was massively built. This was partly a result of previous building experience within the company and also a reflection of the state of GRP technology at that time. All Centaurs were built to Lloyds specifications which meant that the building processes were rigorously monitored and all materials had to be approved by Lloyds in order that a certificate could be issued. Although long out of production they still represent excellent value for money, and offer a very tough, seaworthy and spacious (for 26') yacht at low cost.   Engine(s) & Electrical: Yanmar 35hp diesel (reconditioned unit fitted in 2022).
